Supported Formats & Limits

What Noctune accepts when you upload or record audio.

Accepted audio formats

Any of these work without transcoding on your end:

  • MP3 — most common
  • M4A (AAC in MP4 container) — iPhone voice memos
  • AAC (raw)
  • WAV (PCM / Linear16)
  • FLAC
  • Ogg, Opus
  • WebM (audio track)
  • MP4 (audio-only)
  • 3GPP, AMR

Full allow-list: AAC, AMR, FLAC, MP3, MP4, M4A, Ogg, Opus, WAV, WebM, 3GPP, 3GPP2. If you have an unusual source and it rejects, transcode to MP3 or M4A and retry.

File size and duration

LimitValue
Max file size per upload500 MB
Max duration per encounter4 hours
Append audio to existing encounterYes, see Review & Edit

For appointments longer than 4 hours, record in segments and upload each as its own encounter, or stop/restart recording mid-visit.

Image and document attachments

Inbound email threads (Nest) can receive attachments sent by clients — photos, lab results, forms. They’re stored alongside the thread and visible in the encounter. You cannot send attachments from Noctune; outbound sends are text-only.

Noctune does not offer PDF export of SOAP notes or discharge summaries. Use the copy-to-clipboard or email flows to get content out.
