Messages

Messages has two jobs in Noctune: it’s an inbox for vet-to-vet threads, and it’s the home of the Nest — where pet-owner replies to your emails land, tied back to the encounter they’re about.

The Nest

When you email a discharge note or follow-up from an encounter, you pick how replies route. Choose Nest and replies come back to {encounter-id}@mail.noctune.ai — they appear as a new thread in Messages, tied to the encounter they reference.

  • Full reference: Messaging & Email Relay
  • Why it matters: the client’s follow-up question arrives in context — you (or another vet) sees the original visit alongside the reply.

Noreply vs. Nest vs. Vet direct

Short version:

  • Noreply — one-way courtesy sends. Replies bounce. Free, included with every generated note.
  • Nest — bidirectional, tied to the encounter. Included in subscription.
  • Vet direct — replies go to your personal email. Included in subscription, but exposes your address.

See Messaging & Email Relay for the full comparison.

Vet-to-vet threads

The other half of the inbox is vet-to-vet correspondence for referrals and consults. Threads group messages between you and another vet (or a whole team).

Starting a new message

New Message in the top right. Pick a recipient, optionally attach an encounter for context, write your note.

Flagged filter

The Flagged filter surfaces encounters where Noctune detected hostility during the visit — see Safety Detection. Use this when you need to look back on a difficult client.

Notifications

You get an email for new messages if that’s enabled under Notifications settings. The in-app badge updates in real time.
